Marc Hemmerling (MSc in Computer Sciences) is General Counsel Digital Banking, FinTech and Payments and is Member of the senior Management of ABBL, the Luxembourg Bankers’ Association.

Marc Hemmerling started his career in the financial services sector in Luxembourg by launching Cetrel (acquired by SIX meanwhile) a well known bank owned payment as well as clearing and settlement services provider which put Luxembourg on the map of electronic payment systems in 1986.
Marc also liaises with various national committees chaired by the Luxembourg Central Bank, the financial sector supervisor CSSF and the Haut Comité pour la Place Financière. In addition, Marc is Member of the Board of ICTluxembourg and chairman of XBRL Luxembourg. He is personally appointed deputy member of the National Data Protection Agency – CNPD.
In Luxembourg, Marc is on the panel of FinTech experts advising the Economic and Social Council (CES) as well as on LIST (Luxembourg Institute for Science and Technology) and SnT (interdisciplinary centre for Security, Reliability and Trust of Université de Luxembourg) advisory and steering committees.
At the European level, Marc is representing the Luxembourg financial community in various Committees of the European Banking Federation (EBF) and especially in the Digital strategy Expert Group. He is Board Member of EPC (European Payments Council) representing the interests of Luxembourg, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Slovenia since 2015 and is taking part in several technical working groups.
